Awards and Grants

The Carteret County Historical Society has received numerous grants and awards. The History Place was awarded the prestigious 'Certificate of Commendation,' a national honor, from the American Association for State and Local History (AASLH) for its diverse ongoing public programming. For 60 years, the AALSH awards remain the most prestigious recognition for achievement in the preservation and interpretation of state and local history.

Additionally, the museum has received grants from the History Channel- Save Our History, Carteret Craven Electric, the Arts Council of Carteret County, the Carteret Community Foundation, the Carteret County Tourism Authority, Julian Price Foundation, Town of Morehead City, Donald and Elizabeth Cooke Foundation, the Jenkins-Tapp Foundation, First Citizens Bank, the Hillsdale Fund and the Taylor Foundation. In addition, it has received honors for publishing from the North Carolina Society of Historians.
